This is the first Darshan in Meri Maiya Vaishnodevi Yatra on the main road on your way 13 Kms from Jammu to Katra in Nagarota Village
Meri Maiya stayed here for quite some time to complete HER Tapasya (spiritual discipline) by performing all the required rituals and fulfilling all the necessary virtues as has been described in the scriptures.
Meri Maiya
Meri Maiya played here with small girls and used to swing with local girls on nearby trees. Once when the girls felt thirst, Meri Maiya gave them a bowl (Kol). When the girls shook (Khandholna) the bowls at a dry place, water gushed out of it. Hence Meri Maiya came to be called Kol Kandholi Maiya.

Meri Maiya Resides
There is still a tree, where a symbolic swing has been kept, which is worshipped till today in memory of Meri Maiya. The well, which was formed by the water that gushed out of the earth, is present too and it never runs dry.
Kahin Nahin Meri Maiya sa Darbar
At the time, Meri Maiya was here the same time Pandavas were staying nearby in an Ashram with their mothers Kunti and Madri. Its believed that Pandavas were born as Meri Maiya blessings to their parents and they spent a fair part of their early childhood days serving Meri Maiya first at Kol Kandholi and then at the Holy Cave at Meri Maiya Darbar. The temple at Kol Khandoli have been built by Pandavas as a symbol of their reverence for Meri Maiya.
