It is considered that while on a pilgrimage (Yatra) a Yatri should conduct the Yatra according to the suggested route in order to ensure complete success of His / Her Yatra. Together all the places of Darshans are considered to be linked in some type of chain and one who visits all the places gets rewarded for His / Her efforts. 

The Yatra to the Holy Shrine of Meri Maiya is the Yatra to all those places where Meri Maiya had either spent some time observing spiritual discipline or had revealed HERSELF to HER bhakts. 

Meri Maiya Vaishnodevi had taken birth in human form in the southern part of India. SHE spent a long time at a place called Rameshwaram in present day Tamil Nadu. From there Meri Maiya came to the northernmost part of the country, which used to be known as Jamboo in olden days (Jammu at present). 

All these places where Meri Maiya stayed or gave HER divine Darshan to HER bhakts, include Kol Kandholi at Nagrota, Deva Mai near Katra, Bhoomika Mandir near Katra, Darshini Darwaza at Katra, Banganga, Charan Paduka, Adhkuwari and finally at Meri Maiya Bhavan ..... Meri Maiya Darbar.
